With over forty years of folk and traditional music experience, Alan has collected, built and learned to play in excess of thirty instruments (see 'About Alan - Instrument Collection' pages). As well as being a fine musician and entertainer, Alan can relate a great deal of information on each instrument he plays, having studied it's history and traditions, organology and methods of construction. Alan's research has taken him to Europe and the British Isles a number of times where he has both studied and performed.
Working as a full-time professional musician, Alan presently performs with three traditional music groups (see: Alan's Performing Groups pages), as well as playing numerous solo engagements throughout the year.
As a music teacher, Alan gives both private and group lessons on the bagpipes and diatonic accordion. See: Services - Music Instruction page.
