Alan's Group Performances
Group Performances
In addition to making solo appearances, if interested, Alan can supply and perform with other pipers
and/or drummers, and can provide accompaniment for his or your Scottish Highland and/or Irish step
dancers. Alan is also a member of several performing groups specializing in the music and dance of
the British Isles, Ireland and France - see below. Performances by these groups employ both
unique traditional instrumentation and colorful regional folk costumes, and can include dance
perfomance and instruction.
Tour de France
Tour de France plays traditional folk music from various regions of France. Instruments include French
cornemuses (bagpipes - see Alan's Instrument Collection - Bagpipes), diatonic and chromatic accordions, vielles
(hurdy-gurdys), violin, hautbois (oboes), crumhorn (see Alan's Instrument Collection - Misc. Instruments), flute,
whistles and guitar. Vocals also interspersed with instrumentals. French dance instruction can be provided when requested. Basic group is four musicians.
The band is featured on it's recently released CD recording Tour de France - Music of the French Provences.

Les Campagnards
Les Campagnards is a local Bay Area group specializing in the music and dance of Central France.
Instruments include French cornemuses (bagpipes - see Alan's Instrument Collection - Bagpipes), diatonic and chromatic accordions,
vielle à roue (hurdy-gurdy) and violin. French dance instruction can be provided when requested. Group can include up to 5 musicians.

Rosin the Bow
Rosin the Bow plays tradional music of Ireland and Scotland. Instruments include fiddle,
Highland and Lowland bagpipes (see Alan's Instrument Collection - Bagpipes),
tin whisle, diatonic and chromatic accordions, mandocello, guitar and bodran. Songs also interspersed with instrumentals.
Irish dancers and celeidh dance instruction available. Group can be a duo or trio of musicians.
