Alan's Accordion Collection

Introduction

The accordions depicted/described on this page differ from the the more familiar "piano" keyed accordion in that they are bisonorous, that is, they play a different note for each bellows direction. Both the bass (with one chord exception for the two-row instruments) and the melody sides of each accordion produce two different tones per button.

[accordion photo] Hohner "Corso" - Italian syle 2 row diatonic, 3 reeds/note (treble side), in the keys of G/C with 21 treble and 8 bass buttons. Red "pearloid" case and keyboard top, with chrome grill. Thumb-grooved black wooden keyboard with white plastic keys. Made by Hohner of Germany. (This is my favorite one to play.)

Note: "OC" (top-right) is the symbol for "Occitan".

Black/gold floral motif wood case with "pokerwork" chrome grill and black plastic keyboard with white plastic keys. Made by Hohner of Germany. Note: This is actually my wife's accordion. It is included here as an example of a more traditional-looking "new" instrument.
